How Do I Stay Motivated

Do you ever wonder how those over achievers do it?  They are hyper, happy, always ready to work and successful in every part of their lives!  You know you see them, running into Starbucks for a Frappuccino.  Well that just isn’t realistic.  Then there is everyone else, like us.  So how do I stay motivated?

If you are not motivated there must be something behind it.  You could just be burnt out on work or life in general.  If this is the case, you need to rejuvenate.  This means different things to everyone.  Have you had enough sleep?  When’s the last time you were out in the sun?  Are you exercising regularly or at least getting out for a walk every day or ever other day?  Self care should be at the top of your list for everything you do in life.  If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of your work, your business, your home or your relationships.  Take some “you” time.  Quiet time away from everyone, so you can focus on how you feel physically, emotionally and mentally.  It’s very easy to get caught up in work and life and forget what is most important.

Combat Stress

Once you evaluate how you are feeling in all of those areas, it’s time to gain perspective.  You may feel stressed over things that are out of your control or things that are much smaller than you are making them out to be.  Look at the big picture.  Is there really a reason to stress over things?  Is it going to help or make a difference?  Let it go…  If you died tomorrow, would any of the things you are stressing about make a difference?  Probably not.  In order to make good decisions, stay on track and focus, you need to let go of the stress and worry.  I know, easier said than done.  But not really.  Get out and do something.  Focus your mind somewhere else.  If you are playing basketball or tennis with a friend, you most likely won’t be thinking about your problems.  If you are artistic, then paint or draw.  Whatever you are good at, do it.  Step away from the stress and give your mind a vacation.

Make a Change

It may be time to re-evaluate your job, your business or your life in general.  Most people fear change.  We all get comfortable in our little bubble, but that is when we stop growing.  There is no need to fear change, you can handle it.  You are strong.  The best time to find another job, is when you have a job.  The best time to create or change a business, is anytime.  People all over this planet are growing every day, making changes, enjoying life and benefiting from those changes.  Why should you be left in the dust?  Because it is kind of comfortable?

How Do I Stay Motivated?

What it boils down to is TIME.  You have a limited amount of time on Earth to make a life and make a difference.  This life should be how you want it to be.  It doesn’t have to be a spouse, children, home and fancy cars.  Don’t be a sheep.  Create the life you want.  When you make the changes to create a life that you consider fun, exciting, interesting and fulfilling, then you never need to worry about motivation again.  There, you have it…take care of yourself, make good changes and live the life you want.  And don’t forget to help others who are lost, you can use all the good karma you can get. 🙂

Couldn’t have been written better..especially about the self care..sometimes when I feel bad or stressed or unmotivated it only because I haven’t been exercising or I haven’t been out in the sun..
Sounds quite simple but it is true..of course there are some people who deal with bigger problems or situations but going out, be in presence with nature, exercising can at least helps us feel better..
    Great post, loved it 🙂

Stepping out there and embracing change, going on a new adventure and taking good care of yourself is such great advice. I sometimes need to be reminded of these things. Great share!

Taking time for myself to destress keeps me motivated. I can tell myself it’s okay to take breaks – it’ll make me more productive!

This is such a powerful and truthful post. Stress can de-motivate and cause burn out. I like the fact that you addressed evaluating stressors and making changes. This is something I can truly relate with this year and I am definitely on my way to a much more fulfilling life because of it. Keep shining and spreading positivity!

These are great reminders on how to stay motivated, especially self-care! Self-care is so important, and if your mental health is poor (or even your physical health) then your drive and motivation tends to decrease!

Hi Elisa, this is a really great post! Self – care is a big one for me. I get burned out a lot because I just maximize my time for my side hustle (hoping to turn it to fulltime). Never really how important it is until now. If you burn out, you lose momentum and lose your motivation to continue, to move forward. Thanks for your post!

Thanks for reading Belinda. I agree, I have run myself down so many times trying to make things successful that it ends up taking longer because I didn’t take care of myself. Self care is so important.

Yes! I think times in my life when I felt completely burnt out it was because I needed a big change. Change is hard for me but so worth it with time!
