Is time passing you by?

is time passing you by?

So let’s be real here.  Is time passing you by? Are you where you really want to be in life?  In my 20’s I had a plan.  I would grow my business and retire before 50.  I have never lost sight of that plan.  I’m not exactly on track for that outcome, but I’m not too far off either.  What are your future goals?

The new year always sparks resolutions for wealth, health and happiness.  Everyone needs a fresh start.  I’m not big on resolutions, but I’m big on ideas and habit changes.  Every year I take a look at my life in a whole and try to make decisions that will improve my overall well being.  I see it as stepping stones to greatness! One step at a time and over the years I become happier and more fulfilled.

is time passing you by?Is time passing you by? What’s missing in your life?

It’s important to be grateful for all that we have.  When we focus on what is missing instead of what we are grateful for having then we are always in a place of need.  The truth is, it will never be enough.  I know a very wealthy man who only has used cars.  For the life of me I couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t buy a new car for himself.  After a while I realized he only bought things he needed.  He didn’t need a new car.  Sure he could afford it, but he didn’t feel he had to have one to feel better about himself.  He lives in a huge mansion, with 20+ bedrooms.  He rents out all the bedrooms to art students.  He could easily live their alone and have the whole place to himself, but he doesn’t need it.  Now, I’m not suggesting we all live this way, but it really is something to think about.

If you were to evaluate your life and make decisions based on what really makes you happy, what things you should keep and what things you should get rid of, what would your life look like?

Too many people are living their lives just to obtain “things”.  Shopping all the time.  Cluttering their home and lives up with “things”.  So you know what is missing in your life?  Absolutely nothing.  You have everything you would ever need to live a wonderful and fulfilling life.

Giving Back

There is simply not enough “giving back” in our world. There is so much joy to be given and received by “giving back”.  With so many less fortunate souls out there, we should be giving back every chance we get.  But yes, we get caught up in our lives, our goals, our money, our things that we often forget we are all community.   I’ve often seen a homeless person and thought, “wow, life is passing him by”, but the reality is that his situation is an opportunity for me to do something good.  Even if it is just bringing him a lunch bag of food or a fresh blanket.  A little effort goes a long way for someone in need.

Peace and Tranquility

Now I’m sure some of you thrive in chaos.  Most entrepreneurial minds do.  But that may also land you in the hospital with a heart attack!  Some of the most successful people have perfected their environments.  They create sanctuaries for their work and home life.  Nothing makes me feel more successful than a clean home and office and a soothing environment to live/work in.

This is where it gets deep!  You can clean up your home and office all you want and surround yourself with plants and things that calm you but if the people in your home and work environment are negative, it won’t help one bit.  The hardest lesson I had to learn this past 5 years was to declutter my life of negative family and friends.  This is gut wrenching.  Lot’s of tears and broken hearts.  But in the end I only surround myself with people who are nurturing, loving, supportive and positive.  It has made a huge difference in my well being.  Now I naturally attract good, positive people.  What would your life look like if you said good-bye to all the negative Nancy’s in your life?

Get the show on the road!

It’s time to make money.  No, you don’t need clutter and stuff, but you do need to live and create experiences and help those in need.  One of the joys in my life is traveling.  I’m simply amazed by our earth and it’s inhabitants.  While I’m on this 3rd rock from the sun I want to see all it has to offer and connect and learn from other beautiful souls.  So that is my motivation to make money.  Along the way, if I can bring happiness to those I meet or those in need then I’m filled with joy.

The whole point of my blog is to help other entrepreneurial minded people create their own business so they can live the life they want without being tied down to a 9-5 job.  Before this blog, I was unconsciously doing this anyways with friends and family.  I had helped many people before even thinking about blogging.  It hit me one day that this was one of my callings.  INSPIRE. EDUCATE. SUPPORT. So that is what I do.  I provide ideas, some education on those subjects and then as much support as I can give so that YOU can feel you aren’t alone in this endeavor.  Sometimes we have to unlearn things to realize we don’t have to follow everyone else’s path.  We can live our lives, OUR way.  And that way is HOWEVER you want to live.  I’m just here to help you support that lifestyle of freedom.

I love this. One of the biggest blessings in my life is the volunteer work I do, especially with the little girl I mentor. Not enough people take the time to just be kind to one another and its such a shame. Such a great blog post and a great reminder to start 2018!

I sometimes feel like life is passing me by and that I am wasting time on things that do not matter. I feel most happy when I take time for myself and do things that are peaceful.

Currently starting the transition out of my full time corporate job to go full-time as a freelancer & blogger after three years of working so hard on my side hustle before and after work every day, and I’m SO nervous! Taking the leap can be daunting. And everything you talked about in today’s post are such good reminders for me right now. Thanks for sharing!

I completely understand! Check out my other posts and sign up for my free resources. There is a way out, it just needs to be planned carefully. Just remember, you are the one in control and as long as you give it your all the risk will pay off. 🙂

I’m in total agreement about the “there’s a lack of giving back,” observation. It’s pretty sad to see so many in need, and so many people with an abundance of time and resources to meet those needs; they just simply choose not to.

I totally agree with all of this. Last month after doing a volunteer project for the holidays, I realized how fulfilling it is to give back. I decided in 2018 I want to do more of that.

Dear Elisa, thank you for sharing this thought, I totally agree with everything. As you said, it’s important to have a ”giving back” attitude but it’s not easy when you are surrounded by people who are focus on their own life and their own pleasures. You know, I was looking for a job theses past few years besides my blog and nobody help me to find a job, so this kind of attitude let me feel that I don’t want to help anybody either. I don’t know if you know what I mean … I agree when you say that it is very important to be surrounded my ”positive people” I live with y negative parents and it can be difficult to live with them but for the moment I can’t go somewhere else. Looking forward to read others of your thoughts.

Thanks Catarina, yes I totally understand what you are feeling. One thing to think about is that you get what you give. So keep giving and eventually you will start to receive that back in your life. Find a way out of the negative family situation, you life will change completely. Use that energy to grow and thrive my friend. Good luck to you!!
